If Democrats are defeatists, then war supporters who have yet to make a personal sacrifice are also defeatists. You say you want to win, but you don’t volunteer to give the troops the support they need.

Everytime you armchair warriors pass a recruiting station without signing up you’re giving hope to the terrorists.

I am saying war supporters who don’t enlist are cowards. If you really think the US and Israel are in imminent danger of being nuked, how can you not enlist?

TolerantAtheist, they dont care what the fight is for. As long as they can wave the flag and get good returns on the mutual funds they don’t care what the current reson for the war is.

Im active duty US Army. I’ve been deployed to the AO numerous times.

Its typical that you say war supporters who don’t enlist are cowards. You can’t actually win an argument, so you name call.

Bumper sticker slogans don’t win arguments or wars, my friend..

I see you’re saying that all supporters of the war should not run for office but should enlist. HAHA now that would lead the nation to be run by those who are against the war. Hey that’s real slick.
So tell me Mr. Macho what have you done for your country lately?

Taxbilly, we need real sacrifice from every American if we’re going to win the wars in the middle east. That means more than blogging in support of the war. Don’t you want to win? I’m concerned you will miss your chance to take part in the defining struggle of our generation and help save the world from the islamic fascists.

And please, don’t call me Macho. Republicans are the ones who treat their support of the war as a statement of personal courage. That’s why the whole “Chickenhawk” thing confuses them so much.

Spc_mattg, interesting how it’s fine for neo cons to smear and insult the anti war crowd as “cowards” “defeatists” and rooting for the terrorists but when you ask them to make a personal sacrifice it’s waaaah, that’s so mean, how can you say that? Thank you for your service, and please encourage war supporters who are eligible for service to enlist. They claim to support you in word, but they don’t support you in action.

The big win for AQ was first in Tora Bora, when authorization to pursue Osama was not given. Second, was al-Zawahiri’s recent video:

“This bill will deprive us of the opportunity to destroy the American forces which we have caught in a historic trap,” Zawahiri says in answer to a question posed to him an interviewer.”

Continuing in the same tone, Zawahiri says, “We ask Allah that they only get out of it after losing 200,000 to 300,000 killed, in order that we give the spillers of blood in Washington and Europe an unforgettable lesson.”

Bush is serving the interests of AQ.

Like I said Mr. Macho what have you done for your country lately? Have you done anything to earn this freedom you enjoy or are riding on the backs of people like spc_mattg?

wwz

Why is it that every time a democrat stands up and spouts his anti-American trash we hear it repeated by our enemies? Why is it that everything said about our country by our enemies is repeated by you liberals?

Taxbilly – if I am anti-American then you are also an anti-American defeatist. You say you want to win but you don’t make a personal sacrifice. You contribute as much to the war effort as I do. Keep repeating the things you hear on talk radio, brainwashed idiot.

TolerantAtheis-Never said you were anti-American did I. But I can see why you would make that connection.

Name calling isn’t that sweat. I put my 6 years in the service to secure your freedom, maybe that does make me an idiot.

I would define a coward as one that gets his freedom from the blood of his neighbors and refuses to give them the credit for what they have done. Or one that has never served his country and hides behind the mask of lies and misinformation.

Taxbilly – you suddenly claim to have served, even though you never brought it up until now. I don’t believe you. You are a liar, just like the liar in chief. Hurry up and enlist, coward.

You’d likely prefer we recuit Mexican illegals to fight this war with promise of citizenship on return. Anything to protect your candy ass.

Urge war supporters to enlist:

So, TolerantAtheist, you accuse Taxbilly as a brainwashed idiot that repeats everything heard on talk radio, what makes you better by spewing the lies you get from Moveon.org and all the other left winged media outlets? And by the way, I served 8 years, what have you done?

TolerantAtheist- Hey Mr. Macho I have my DD214 how about you? Have you ever done anything to earn your right to live in this country other than being born? I give the foreign enlistee a lot more credit for adding to America’s freedom than you.

Where did you serve, what have you done? With all this name calling I surmise your just a spoiled child that got a hold of a computer.

Opposition to Vietnam War
Although he voted in favor of the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, McGovern later became a strong critic of defense spending, and was an early and vocal opponent of U.S. military involvement in Vietnam, often criticizing the policies of fellow Democrat, President Lyndon Johnson.
McGovern was outspoken in his criticism of the Senate’s “war hawks”. During Senate floor debate in September 1970, he assailed his colleagues for not supporting an amendment that he had co-sponsored with Senator Mark Hatfield (R-Oregon) calling for a complete withdrawal of troops from Vietnam:

At the 1968 Democratic National Convention, McGovern stood as the anti-war flagbearer for some of the supporters of Senator Robert F. Kennedy, who had been assassinated two months earlier while running for the nomination. Despite strong anti-war sentiment, McGovern lost the Presidential nomination to establishment candidate Vice President Hubert Humphrey, coming in behind anti-war candidate Minnesota Senator Eugene McCarthy who had been in the race for the longest time, but had alienated many of the Kennedy supporters in the months leading up to Kennedy’s assassination, and failed to win them over afterward.

Landslide loss
In the general election, the McGovern/Shriver ticket suffered a 60%–38% defeat to Nixon — at the time, the second biggest landslide in American history, with Electoral College totals of 520 to 17. McGovern’s two electoral vote victories came in Massachusetts and the District of Columbia; McGovern failed to win his home state of South Dakota.

TolerantAtheist I would have signed up after 9/11, GLADLY. Problem—I’m too “old”. Too bad the military didn’t figure out how vicious menopausal women can be.
